Konrad Shek
Konrad serves as the public policy & regulation director at the Advertising Association, spearheading the organisation’s initiatives in AI, digital technology, and data privacy. The Advertising Association is a tripartite trade body representing the interests of advertisers, agencies, and media companies.
Prior to joining the Advertising Association, he spent five years with the Asian conglomerate Jardine Matheson in Shanghai, where he was responsible for developing external and local government relations. During this time, he was elected to a two-year term as an Executive Committee Member of the British Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai.
From 2003 to 2012, Konrad served as a civil servant with the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO). He worked in both London and overseas, handling a variety of roles encompassing political affairs, economic policy, trade policy, and public diplomacy.
Konrad’s expertise is widely recognised in the industry. He is a member of the Department for Culture, Media & Sport’s (DCMS) Online Advertising Taskforce and chairs its information sharing working group. Additionally, he serves on the Executive Committee of the self-regulatory coordination body – the European Advertising Standards Alliance (EASA).
Konrad holds an MSc in Public Policy from the University of Bath and a BEng in Electronic Engineering and Mathematics from the University of Nottingham. Furthering his commitment to privacy and data protection, he is a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/E) with the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP).
