Speaker: Nathalie Laneret – Vice-President Government Affairs and Public Policy at Criteo

Artificial intelligence (AI) is at the roots of the open Internet and online advertising. The contribution of our sector to breakthrough research in AI, across many other sectors, cannot be overstated. So far, AI has been a fertile ground for GDPR applications, as personal data is often involved to train algorithms. The forthcoming AI Act, which mostly looks at the effects of these algorithms on individuals and society, may trigger a change of paradigm on the regulatory approach on AI. Will the AI Act have the same effect on the online advertising value chain as the GDPR? Can the AI Act save the risk-based approach of the GDPR from oblivion? How can we ensure consistency between the two regulations? This session will try to shed light on the emerging AI policy front.
