Horst Heitz

Dr. Horst Heitz is the Chair of the SME Connect Steering Committee and Executive Director of the SME Europe of the EPP since 2012. In 2019 he was also appointed Deputy Secretary-General and Special Representative for SMEs for the Taxpayers Association of Europe (TAE).

Dr. Horst Heitz was born in 1976 in Basel, Switzerland and studied political science, history, communication science and international law in Munich and Salzburg. After successfully completing his Master of Arts (M.A.) degree, Dr. Horst Heitz completed a doctoral degree in Vienna with a dissertation on “Lobbyism in the European Union”. His professional focus has been on promoting SMEs’ interests in various associations at the European level for more than ten years.
